Naasih you are very lucky because, here in Australia, right after birth, a midwife will pay a visit to our house for a week and make sure that you and ibu are alright. The midwife that came to granma's house was the one that took care of ibu semasa di ward. She's very nice and calm lady. Every day she will weigh you and ask whether you've been feeding or not. Alhamdulillah ibu was taught a lot of things especially on how to take care of you and continue breastfeeding(bf).
Ibu had to make sure to bf you every 3 hours, this was because;
1) you had jaundice - a yellowing of the skin and other tissues of a newborn baby. Only with urinating all the toxic could be drained out. Abi had to poke your cheeks and kiss you smooshy2 to wake you up. Yes, of course you hated it, but it was for your own good.(Beware you should be worried if your baby sleeps all day and tak mahu minum) Alhamdulillah after a week the jaundice was gone :)
2) your weight for the first few days after birth had gone down, and it was important for you to gain at least 25% more of your birth weight. We were worried and it was not easy.
3) to make sure that you're not hungry, because your tummy is very small, so it had to be filled regularly. :P
4) Ibu had to drain all the milk or else ibu jugak yg susah and sakit. Alhamdulillah abi bought ibu an Avent elec IQ Breastpump which helped ibu a lot and saved time.
Cerita ttg Breastpump nih kelakar sgt, ibu tak tahu macam mana nk guna, and asked the midwife to teach. But then tetiba dia pun taktahu, and we both got confused haha. At last, tunggu jelah abi ajarkan. Midwife tu ckp "Im sure this was designed by a man" haha..true enough. :)
So sayang ibu, this means ibu and semua orang (abi,granma & aunties sekalian) have to look at the clock thousands trillians of times and remind ibu every now and then to bf you. Not to mention, staying up late at night just to make sure we bf you on time (alhamdulillah ibu dah biasa sbb penah ada experience jd student archi) . But Naasih sayang you were such a good baby (just like ibu, nenek wiould say :P), you are always on time and would usually wake ibu and abi if we've fallen asleep. hehe.
*Granma gave ibu a handy tip on how to look at the clock; try to bf every 6am,9am,12,pm,3pm and so on..So you dont have to do all the maths in your head and get confused hehe.
Midwife nih ajar ibu - utk awal2 (sbb nk generate breastmilk (bm) ni bila Naasih breastfeed(bf) on one side, then bila next feed, Naasih should bf on the same side (to make sure dah drain semua bm) then baru move to the next side. Alhamdulillah banyak rezeki utk Naasih, ibu and abi syukur sgt sbb dipermudahkan semua. :)
However once dah lancar bf, bolehlah selang seli. Logiknya ialah once satu side dah kosong, otak akan hantar instructions to fill in the other. So mmg kena make sure habis semua as ada certain milk tuh cair and pekat, jd if habiskan semua insyaALLAH the baby will get all the nutrient (this is from a normal patient point of view - without any medical background interpreting what she understands hehe.)
Last but not least, ibu syukur sgt sbb semua org encourage ibu to bf (not to forget abi yang tak bg ibu pilihan selain bf hehe) and also nenek and granma yang tak putus2 suruh set a positive mind. :) Alhamdulillah and Thanks a lot :)

Selepas midwife visit for a week ada pulak Community nurse datang (stp kawasan ada community clinic, dan stp clinic ada nurse yang jaga). Selain usual check ups, nurse ni terangkan tentang all the activities and playgroup or mumgroup yang ibu boleh participate. Facilities yang disediakan utk community seperti immun shots, and monthly check ups and toy library. Paling best, nurse yang dtg tu org Malaysia juga hehe, very interesting :) She even drew a family chart naasih for her to keep. Nanti ibu letak family chart awak in any of the postings yea. :)
